About 4 hours and 30 minutes from Quito we reach WildSumaco which has the best trail network in the Eastern Slopes one could easily spend a week just enjoying its impressive trails, here we can find one of the most beautiful tanagers, the Paradise Tanager. There are many special birds that could draw even the most experienced birder to this beautiful place like the Roadside Hawk, Foothill Screech Owl, Band Bellied Owl, Napo Sabrewing, Coppery Chested Jacamar, Crimson Crested Woodpecker, Black Mandibled Toucan, Andean Motmot, Lined Antshrike, White Crowned Tapaculo. There is also a antpitta feeder where to find the Plain Backed Antpitta.
Hummingbirds are no exception here and you can find some exceptional species such as the White Tipped Sicklebill, the amazing Wire Crested Thorntail, Golden Tailed Sapphire, many spotted, and the endemic Raquet Tailed eastern version with the brownish boots. If this is not enough wait to see the Military Macaw.
